watering seeds

Linking up today with others at Five Minute Friday, where a tribe of writers write for five minutes straight on a single prompt. No fancy edits, just writing for the fun of it! Hop on over to Kate Motaung's place to find out how to join in! Today's prompt is doubt.

If hope is that thing with feathers that sits within the soul, doubt is the anchor tied to our weary feet that sinks fast and weighs us down more than anything else.

Hope springs eternal, but doubt kills.

The other morning I was standing at my kitchen sink watering the succulent that is on my window sill, and words formed in my spirit. They were unmistakable. A message from either my soul, or the Divine, I'm not sure which, but the words were almost loud enough for me to hear with my ears.

"Are you watering seeds of doubt, or seeds of faith?"

It was one of those times where I stopped dead in my tracks, with the water glass positioned in mid-air, as I let those words roll around in my head, and make their way the twelve or so inches down to my heart.

In fact, those words were so profound that I spent the rest of the day thinking about them. I couldn't shake them.

See, lately, with some long standing health issues that don't seem to want to move on out of my life, I've had my doubts at times that I'll ever be without them.

They seem like a boat anchor tied to my feet, keeping my faith from soaring. Keeping my eyes down low, down at my feet instead of up, up into the grand future that God has planned out for me.

I've decided since that message from the Divine that I need to get my watering can out and give my faith a drink of bright cool water. And refresh my weary soul.

Thanks for stopping by today, friend!
I hope your weary soul is refreshed!

Blessings to you!

when you paint a color wheel

Today I'm linking up over at Lisa Jo Baker's for Five Minute Friday. Today, the prompt is "paint". This is the time where we write for five minutes straight without worrying about perfection or editing. Won't you come on over and join in?

I walked in my usual five minutes late to class.

She said, “Tonight we’re going to paint a color wheel.”

I had been warned about this the week before. Not warned in the sense that it was going to be a bad thing. But, reminded.

She handed out a photocopied blank color wheel.

We all stared at them.

Then, she had us start mixing colors. That’s the idea behind the color wheel right? To learn the true primary colors, the secondary colors, tint and tone, and then the other ones that I forgot the name for.

my unfinished color wheel

As I got to work, the primary colors were easy because they were squeezed out of the tube. But, then the mixing of the colors with water on my pallet.

Orange wasn’t too tricky, but red orange and yellow orange? And then tints and tones of each?

Our teacher was so patient and forgiving. We whined that our colors were not like our neighbor's.

She said, “All I want you to see is that each section is different. Otherwise yours will be different than the person sitting next to you."

For two hours I concentrated.

I struggled a little.

I am a perfectionist so I wanted to get it right the first time. like always.

As I came home and had a cup of tea after class, I was thinking how much I struggled to make all the colors on my color wheel and how God, in his infinite Creatorship and artistic ability, threw all the colors on His canvas with just His Word for us to enjoy.

God's color wheel

I never realized how painting a color wheel would make me think of God.

Thanks for stopping by!

eyes wide open to abundance {day 3}

Eyes wide open.

Ears that are eager.

John 10:27 "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."

John 14:26 "But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative--that is, the Holy Spirit--he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you."

Bible open, pencil in hand, journal in lap, and the words start pouring out on the page. The still, small voice of Truth. I'm listening intently, even as I am writing feverishly. I want to have eyes and ears of faith. I want to have an open mind and heart to everything God has for me.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Your life belongs to God. I, your Heavenly Father, am your Need Meeter. I provide everything you need.

When you look to yourself or other people to meet your needs, you may see that they are met for awhile, but not really. In the end you will see that you will barely get by and your apparent abundance will just be an illusion. All that you thought was filling your hands will slip through like sifting sand.

The Enemy of your soul will always tempt you to trust in yourself or other people apart from Me. Don't take the bait. Trust only in Me. What I provide will always be satisfying and it will be lasting. I am the Beginning and I Am the End. I Am First and Last. Therefore, My provisions are trustworthy and lasting. They are satisfying. They are like a rock that cannot be moved.

Keep your eyes on Me, your Need Meeter. Expect Me to provide. Expect Me to act. I am always working behind the scenes to provide for your every need.

Friendships? I've got that covered.

Food? I've got that too.

Peace? Yes, it's provided.

Joy? It's yours in abundance.

Love? Oh yes. My love is everlasting. My love is eternal. My love for you is provisional, unconditional, immovable.

My love for you is what motivates Me to provide for you. When you look to anything or anyone else that I created to provide all that you need, you miss out on My very best for you.

I love providing for you. I never tire of it. I am Love. Everything I do is out of Myself, Love.

I am trustworthy. Keep your eyes on Me and you will know. Keep your heart tuned in to Me and you will truly see. You will see the truth, and the truth will set you free and keep you free.

John 10:10, "The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)."
