I'm linking up with Holley Gerth today for Coffee for Your Heart. Today's prompt is "what would you most like to hear when you've had a bad day?"
Yesterday, I was very inspired by the gentle snowfall that I woke up to. I wrote a poem as a gentle reminder to myself. Maybe it can be a reminder to you as well.

*****************************
This snow is a surprise this morning for this non-news-watcher.
This blanket of white that greeted me upon waking.
The flakes clump together all cottonball-like
floating,
suspended,
landing gently.
God's changing the look of His Iowa canvas today.
And, I'm savoring the messages that brings.
This snow speaks to me:
Stop.
Savor.
See.
See me and breathe.
Copy my pace.
I'm in no hurry today.
I'm here to show beauty.
I'm here to remind the watchers that there is beauty to behold.
Stop.
Take a cup of warmth in your hands and gaze.
Whatever you were in such a rush to do can wait just a few moments more.
Stop
to consider this moment
this beauty
this pace.
This, my snowfall pace will allow you to think and see.
Maybe you'll remember some beauty from your past that will bring a smile.
Maybe you'll breathe a little easier and deeper.
Maybe your shoulders will lower just a little more
and your brow be less furrowed.
Allow me to remind you of these things.
This pausing brings life to your harried and hurried self.
Stop.
Savor.
See.
This peace,
this beauty,

What a beautiful poem! Just reading it made me slow down, breathe deeper and set present. I love birds too. The photos in your post are beautiful. It was a gift to find you from the Coffee For Your Heart link up today.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Jacqui for your kind words! I am glad you were blessed by my poem! Blessings!
DeleteThank you for such a wonderful poem and thoughts. When a bad moment or day strikes it is always good to Stop, Savor {something other than the problem} and See {God is still in control} Blessings
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by, and commenting! I need this reminder so often!
DeleteWhat a lovely poem. It hasn't been a bad day but a day where I've simply been feeling sad. So THANK YOU. This has reminded me to stop, savor and see His blessings. When we do, our spirits are always lifted aren't they?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you shared this with Three Word Wednesday. I hope you join us again tomorrow.
Blessings to you.
Hi Beth! Thanks so much for commenting! I just now saw your comment. I wanted to thank you for sharing your heart on your blog yesterday for Three Word Wednesday. I wanted to comment, but couldn't find where to do that! It took lots and lots of courage for you to share those parts of your story, and I am blessed because of it. I can't wait to see what God does with your dream of standing before a group of women to share! Thanks again for stopping!
